The Brain - Mr. Q and A!

Hey folks I'll be back again soon!

Sapp's Success Tip - The Power of Clarity.
Article by James Sapp

The door slammed in Gabby's face. He was lucky his nose wasn't broken. “Watch where you're going puddin brain,” one of the more obnoxious students, Sam screamed at Gabby. (Nicknamed Sarcastic Sam by his fellow students Sam was the head of the unofficial Big Shot Professional Wing of Mr. Perry's sophomore History class.

Sam was distinguished by his loud obnoxious sarcastic mouth and little else. It's too bad that Sarcastic Sam would many years later discover that employers weren't exactly looking for Big Shot Professional Obnoxious Big Mouths.

Sam would have to fall back on his other great skills of broom pushing and box stacking. But hey we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Gabby stunned for a minute reached over to pick up his books he had dropped. Gabby was a bright kid who it always seemed was bumping into things. Of course the other kids ridiculed him for this and he was thus nicknamed, “Gabby the Goat the Butt of Every Joke!”

Like we said Gabby was a bright kid but seemed scatter brained and lacked focus. One day his interest was robots the next was exploring Mars.

Then one day a new science teacher rode into town (in a Ford Mustang). Gabby was really attracted to the new science teacher Mr. Lars Cranium not in a physical but intellectual sense..

Mr. Cranium soon became Gabby's mentor and it wasn't long before Mr. Cranium started teaching Gabby foreign ideas like the “Power of mental clarity and focus.” It wasn't long before Gabby was planning each day and getting real clarity concerning the things he wanted to accomplish each day and even 5 years down the road.

Pretty soon Gabby was the most popular kid in school with a dozen pretty girls escorting him between classes. Well no not exactly, but 10 years later Gabby did have his own microcircuit and software development company with a net worth of about 1.5 Billion Dollars.

All because Gabriel (that's what his business associates call him) had a mentor who showed him the importance of mental clarity and focus.

I urge each of you get real clear on what you want to accomplish each day and what you are striving for down the road. Make a list the night before and define the 6 things you must do each day that will bring you your biggest results. AND Write Them Down. This is what Gabriel did.

Oh and whatever happened to Sam. Well let's look in, it seems Sam is at a job interview. (He goes through quite a few jobs these days).

Mr. Employer: “Well let's see it says here Sam in high school you were a Big Shot Professional Obnoxious Big Mouth. Can you explain that? And also can you explain, which of the following outstanding past job skills best qualifies you for this position: Broom Pusher, Fry Chef, Refuse Maintenance Engineer…?”

Hey none of us can go back and make a brand new start, but we can fashion a brand new ending for ourselves starting today. I encourage you to each day define a clarity and focus about what you want to accomplish. In 7 days you'll be amazed with your new found confidence and sense of direction.

STRETCHING IMPORTANT WHEN EXERCISING

We are all becoming more aware of the many benefits of regular exercise. Sometimes, however, we may forget an essential part of regular exercise: stretching. Studies have documented the advantages of different kinds of exercise and although the benefits of stretching are less well studied, the positive results of this activity make it an important component of any exercise regimen.

Briefly noted, stretching provided these benefits:

  • Increases blood flow.
  • Increases muscle elasticity.
  • Increases range of motion.
  • Improves flexibility.
  • Eases movement.
  • Helps loosen muscles in the arms, shoulders, back, chest, stomach, thighs, buttocks and calves.
  • Aids in prevention of injury and muscle strain.
  • Can improve performance.

Article a "Healthy or Normal" Bowel Movement (Function).

Most experts agree that you should have at least one bowel movement each day, and it is even healthier to have two. Some even believe that you should have a bowel movement an hour or two after each meal. Generally speaking, if you have one each day you would be doing better than most people. However, it is important to have them on a regular basis so that waste material does not remain in your colon too long.

Your stool should be soft, yet well formed and easily eliminated-not dense and hard. One way to evaluate it is to observe whether or not it naturally floats upon elimination-it should float rather than sink. If you are not eliminating on at least a daily basis, there is a good possibility that some of the toxins your body is trying to eliminate may be absorbed back into your bloodstream from your colon.

It is important to remember that what seems to be "normal" is not necessarily "healthy". So, if you are one of those individuals who are "normal", you may still not have "healthy" bowel function. To help support your body's natural elimination processes, there are several factors to keep in mind. Of all of them four are especially important: include adequate fiber in your diet, drink plenty of water, maintain healthy micro flora in your colon and walk some each day.

The fiber and water in your diet helps to insure that your stool contains plenty of fibrous material and is hydrated properly. This facilitates bulk, lubrication and movement through your whole digestive tract, including your colon. Healthy levels of micro flora in the colon help to maintain proper pH and several other important factors.

They play a big role in healthy bowel ecology. To support healthy bowel ecology you can find sources of lactobacillus in yogurt containing active and live culture as well as various forms of supplementation. And, importantly, there is no question that walking is a great way to help your natural elimination process.

Unclog your lymph system to increase your body's ability to burn stored fat by 100%.

"Hello, my name is Ginger Scott "Health Fighter", with some Health Tips for you."
We know the frustration all to well: Day after day, week after week, you weigh and measure every morsel you eat. Still, the scale holds steady. But that is about to change. Researchers finally have discovered the biological cause for those stubborn pounds – and the no-diet miracle that will melt them right off.

The real reason behind pudge that won’t budge!

Scientists have long known that the liver plays a key role in flushing fat and bloat from the body. But until now, they have overlooked the true powerhouse that drives the liver – the lymphatic system,. A weblike network of tiny channels through which fat, fluid and toxins are shuttled to the liver for disposal. The latest discovery: More than 50 percent of women have a sluggish lymphatic system that keeps stubborn pounds put – and most of them don’t even know it!

Supercharging your lymph system is easy!

Fortunately, nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, Ph.D., has developed a program with fitness pro Joanie Greggains that uses study-proven lymph-stimulating mechanisms to unclog toxic buildup so pudge melts away. The program features spa-inspired exercises, baths and massages that restore lymph flow, plus foods that maximize the liver’s ability to process fat and toxins. “The result is a 100 percent increase in your body’s ability to break down fat, including stubborn stores on the hips, butt and belly,” says Gittleman.
image orangr nutrition health newsletter sulfur burn fat diet laughter asparagus exercise bowel movements

How a sluggish lymph system piles on pounds –

Fat and toxins are carried to the liver via lymph (a watery fluid). But the flow of lymph slows when the body has an excess of toxins to process – a common problem since pesticides and other chemicals are present even in good-for-you fare. The result: The liver can’t dispose of wastes that don’t reach it, which sets off a biochemical chain of events that leads to weight-loss plateaus.

One – minute quiz

Gently rub the area between your breasts. If it is tender, your lymph system may be congested. “There are many lymph channels between the skin and breastbone, and little fat to dull the sensitivity when touched,” says Ann Louise Gittleman, Ph.D. “If your lymph system is sluggish, this area will be one of the first to feel tender.”

Flush out stubborn fat the spa way –

If you are like most women, your lymph system is sluggish, and you aren’t even aware of it. But stubborn pounds are a telltale sign. Luckily, clearing lymph blockages so fat and toxins flow freely to the liver for fast flushing can be downright soothing! Here, the study-proven steps for automatic weight loss.

1. A calming stretch – “Unlike blood vessels, lymph vessel walls don’t contain tiny muscles that keep fluids pumping automatically,” says Joanie Greggains. “If you sit still, lymph stops cold.” But these move will get lymph flowing freely to the liver:

a. The toe touch – Inhale deeply as you stretch your arms above your head. Exhale as you slowly bend down to touch your toes. Repeat 10 times.

b. Hip circles – Stand with feet hip-width apart, hands on hips. Bring hips forward, then swivel in a circle. Repeat 4 times in each direction.

c. Marching – Lift your knees to your chest and pump your arms as you march in place. Focus on your posture, tightening your abs and butt. March for five minutes.

(for more lymph-boosting moves, read “The Fat Flush Fitness Plan” ((McGraw Hill, 2003)) or invest in a video, like “First Fave Yoga Zone Yoga for Weight Loss” (($15 at yogazone.com))

2. A relaxing soak – Regularly lounging in a hot bath is not just a luxurious treat. Research at Kagoshima University in Japan suggests that it can significantly boost weight loss in as little as two weeks. “That is because 70 percent of your lymph channels are located just beneath the skin – close enough to the surface so that even lightly touching your skin can affect the movement of lymph,” says Gittleman. “And a hot soak opens pores, allowing toxins to be drawn out of the lymph system through perspiration.” For even more dramatic results, she suggests adding orange-scented aromatherapy oil to the tub. “The scent boosts lymphatic flow, helping flush out excess fluid and reduce bloat.”

3. A soothing massage - Studies show that a massage can push up to 78 percent of stagnant lymph (the watery fluid that washes through tissues) back into the circulatory system. “And if you target the areas that have the highest concentration of lymph vessels, you can boost lymph flow as much as twentyfold, dramatically speeding the elimination of fat and toxins,” says Gittleman. Enjoy 30 minutes of massage weekly – either in one chunk or small bursts. Here, two key areas to stimulate: The arms and chest: Gently stroke the inside of your left arm from the wrist to the inner elbow, then from the elbow to the shoulder. At the armpit, gently squeeze the skin, then continue to stroke from the armpit to the center of your chest. Repeat on the right side. The face and neck: Place your thumbs behind your jaw, below your ears. Knead along the jawline with your thumbs until they meet at the center of your chin.

ARTICLE - WHAT ALL DOES SULFUR REALLY DO?

(Whoa! Don't go so fast- sure this article may be boring!!! but it has some valuable information you can benefit from every day that you'll miss!)

THE MINERAL MINUTE - featuring Sulfur :

The term ‘ minerals ‘ refers to elements in their simple inorganic form. In nutrition they are commonly referred to as mineral elements or inorganic nutrients.

Minerals are vital to health. Like vitamins and amino acids, minerals are essential for regulating and building the trillions of living cells which make up the body. Body cells receive the essential food elements through the blood stream. They must, therefore, be properly nourished with an adequate supply of all the essential minerals for the efficient functioning of the body.

Minerals help maintain the volume of water necessary to life processes in the body. They help draw chemical substances into and out of the cells and they keep the blood and tissue fluid from becoming either too acidic or too alkaline. The importance of minerals, like vitamins, is illustrated by the fact that there are over 50,000 enzymes in the body which direct growth and energy and each enzyme has minerals and vitamins associated with it.

Each of the essential food minerals does a specific job in the body and some of them do extra work, in teams, to keep body cells healthy. The mineral elements which are needed by the body in substantial amounts are calcium, phosphorous, iron, sulphur, magnesium, sodium, potassium and chlorine. In addition the body needs minute (trace) amounts of iodine, copper, cobalt, manganese, zinc, selenium, silicon, fluorine and some others.

Minerals are so important to our health. The body utilizes over 80 minerals for maximum function. Since our soils are so depleted, even if we eat the healthiest foods, we are not getting all the minerals we need. If we don't supplement with good quality colloidal minerals, we can actually be suffering from "mineral malnutrition". Most "cheap" supplements contain only a few minerals (less than 20) and are usually in the metallic or non-soluble forms, which the body can't use.

image carrot nutrition health newsletter sulfur burn fat diet laughter asparagus exercise bowel movements
Hey Partners - I'm a good source of sulfur!

All living matter contains some sulfur or sometime called sulphur ; this element is therefore essential for life. The greater part of the sulphur in the human body is present in the two sulphur-containing amino acids, methionine and cysteine, or in the double form of the latter cystine. The main purpose of sulphur is to dissolve waste materials. It helps to eject some of the waste and poisons from the system.

It helps keep the skin clear of blemishes and makes hair glossy. It is also valuable in rheumatic conditions. The main sulphur-containing foods are radishes, carrots, cabbage, cheese, dried beans, fish and eggs.

There is no recommended dietary allowance. But a diet sufficient in protein will generally be adequate in sulphur. Deficiency of sulphur may cause eczema and imperfect development of hair and nails. Sulphur creams and ointments have been remarkably successful in treating a variety of skin problems.

IMPORTANCE:

As part of four amino acids, sulfur performs a number of functions in enzyme reactions and protein synthesis. It is necessary for formation of collagen, the protein found in connective tissue in our bodies. Sulfur is also present in keratin, which is necessary for the maintenance of the skin, hair, and nails, helping to give strength, shape, and hardness to these protein tissues. Sulfur is also present in the fur and feathers of other animals.

The cystine in hair gives off the sulfur smell when it is burned. Sulfur, as cystine and methionine, is part of other important body chemicals: insulin, which helps regulate carbohydrate metabolism, and heparin, an anticoagulant. Taurine is found in bile acids, used in digestion. The sulfur-containing amino acids help form other substances as well, such as biotin, coenzyme A, lipoic acid, and glutathione. The mucopoly-saccharides may contain chondroitin sulfate, which is important to joint tissues.

Sulfur is important to cellular respiration, as it is needed in the oxidation-reduction reactions that help the cells utilize oxygen, which aids brain function and all cell activity. These reactions are dependent on cysteine, which also helps the liver produce bile secretions and eliminate other toxins. L-cysteine is thought to generally help body detoxification mechanisms through the tripeptide compound, glutathione.

Deficiency and toxicity: There is minimal reason for concern about either toxicity or deficiency of sulfur in the body. No clearly defined symptoms exist with either state. Sulfur deficiency is more common when foods are grown in sulfur-depleted soil, with low-protein diets, or with a lack of intestinal bacteria, though none of these seems to cause any problems in regard to sulfur functions and metabolism.

Diet recommendations: There is no specific RDA for sulfur other than the amino acids of which they are part are needed to meet protein requirements. Our needs are usually easily met through diet. About 850 mg. are thought to be needed for basic turnover of sulfur in the body. There is not much information available on sulfur content of foods, nor are there supplements specifically for sulfur.

Food Sources: As part of four amino acids, sulfur is readily available in protein foods-meats, fish, poultry, eggs, milk, and legumes are all good sources. Egg yolks are one of the better sources of sulfur. Other foods that contain this somewhat smelly mineral are onions, garlic, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and turnips. Nuts have some, as do kale, lettuce, kelp and other seaweed, and raspberries. Complete vegetarians (those who eat no eggs or milk) and people on low-protein diets may not get sufficient amounts of sulfur; the resulting sulfur deficiency is difficult to differentiate clinically from protein deficiency, which is of much greater concern.

Recent research: Clinical experience has shown that MSM provides major pain relief through the following actions:

* The inhibition of pain impulses along nerve fibers

* Lessening of inflammation

* Increasing of blood supply

* Reduction of muscle spasm

* Softening of scar tissue
