There is a large amount of research about the specific health impacts of higher dietary levels of Omega-3 fatty acids (particularly DHA or docosahexaenoic acid). In order to get the adequate amounts of Omega-3 in our diet we would have to eat fish about 4 times per week.
However, for most people this is unrealistic, as fish is expensive (especially those with high Omega-3 levels), and also because of the mercury levels in most fish people shouldn’t consume this much of this particular fish. So the logical solution is Omega-3 fish oil supplements. However, you want to look for one with very high levels of DHA and EPA
Omega-3 Fatty acids have been shown to help brain function and even improve memory. They also appear in studies to support healthy blood pressure along with many other health benefits like supporting a healthy heart. Eating a diet rich in omega-3s can support the health of our heart, joints, eyes, immune system, skin and nervous system, support healthy moods, maintain sharp minds into our golden years, help our bodies maintain a normal and healthy inflammatory process, and possibly even help increase our life span.
The unfolding story of the Omega-3s has revealed that these specific fatty acids support good health throughout the entire human life cycle – from unborn babies to healthy active senior citizens.
